What is Broken Cell Chlorella?

Here at Fitbits, we think you have a right to know what you are putting in your body. That’s why we try to be 100% transparent with the ingredients of our products such as our Broken Cell Chlorella. We are trying our best to clarify or explain “why” a specific ingredient is in our supplements.

We have broken cell wall Chlorella in some of our superfood green supplements and we understand that some of you might be wondering why it’s there and what it will do for you. Well, as a result of reading this post you will know what “Broken Cell” Chlorella is and what is its benefit. Let’s start with the basics.

What is Chlorella?

If you asked a panel of nutritionists, they would universally agree with us that going back to the basics is one of the best ways of making sure we are healthy. If you want to go back to the real basics of food, nothing can be more basic than chlorella.

Chlorella is a type of single cell algae that grows in freshwater. They are capable of photosynthesis (the process of converting the sunlight to energy). Along with Spirulina, another alga, they are considered as super foods by people from all over the world.

When used either as food, medicine, or supplement, all parts of chlorella are used. This is because Chlorella itself contains a number of chemicals which is collectively called “chlorella growth factor”. Depending on who you talk to, these chemicals can do a lot of things including prevent cancer cells, regulate blood sugar, and make you lose weight.Broken Cell Chlorella is better than non broken

What is Broken Cell Wall Chlorella?

The main difference between animal cells and plant cells is nature of the cell wall. In plants, the cell wall is much thicker and much more rigid than the animal cell. This is what makes flower stalks stiff. As a result, they are much harder to break down and digest.

The same is the case with Chlorella. Although it is brimming with good vitamins and nutrients on the inside, some people believe we can’t really harvest 100% of its goodness due to the cell wall.

Solution? Break the cell wall before ingestion.

Without the cell wall, Chlorella becomes more “bioavailable”. This just means that all the nutrients from the Chlorella are readily available to be absorbed into your body. A specialised milling process with just the right light and heat is used to break the cell wall without jeopardising the nutrients.

What are the Benefits of Broken Cell Chlorella?cell walls are not stiff in broken cell chlorella

When thinking about the benefits of broken cell Chlorella, one can just assume that it will be similar to that of regular chlorella but magnified by a certain degree. This is due to the increased bioavailability of the broken cell wall. Here are some of the proven benefits of Chlorella.

  1. Body Detoxifier – At one point in your life, heavy metal may have found a way inside your body. Good thing Chlorella can literally wrap itself around bad toxins and heavy metals in the body so they don’t get reabsorbed by the body. With regular intake of Chlorella, you can prevent heavy metals from building up in your tissues and organs. Aside from detoxifying toxins and heavy metals, Chlorella is also known to detoxify the body of radiation and chemotherapy for cancer patients. It is due to the high levels of chlorophyll in Chlorella that protects our body from ultraviolet radiation and removes radioactive particles from your body.
  2. Boosts your Immune System – In a 2012 study published in the Nutrition Journal, scientists found that a regular intake of Chlorella improves NK cell activity. These NK or Natural-Killer cells are the building blocks of your immune system.
  3. Helps You Lose Weight – In a study published in 2008 in the Journal of Medicinal Food, researchers saw that Chlorella can help reduce one’s body fat percentage, total cholesterol, and fasting blood glucose levels. Not only will Chlorella help you lose weight but will also help lower blood sugar and cholesterol. Chlorella does this through regulating the body’s hormones, while managing the metabolism, and improving circulation.
  4. Makes You Younger – This is not proven and of course n one can reverse time, but there is continuing research on Chlorella and its effect on the aging process. In a study published in 2013, it has been revealed that Chlorella can greatly reduce the oxidative stress and its effect on the body. Oxidative stress can be caused by a lot of things including poor diet, pollution, or stress. By removing free radicals and toxins in your body and supplying it with ample amounts of Vitamins A and C couple with Glutathione, Chlorella can also give you younger looking skin.
